A ceramic mesh

This Ring is the first of four virtually identical sphere segments. With a radius of thirty centimeters, this piece is made of a periodic and regular ceramic mesh.
This type of assembly is found in the structures of several of the artist’s creations. The mesh, which could be considered as cold ceramic weaving, has the advantage of being aesthetic, simple and homogeneous. It is very resistant and can withstand significant pressure stresses.
In addition, it makes it possible to create an object with a particularly singular and unique design. The plastician integrates artificial light into his work in a contemporary way.

Trigonometry and lighting cones

Unlike Dan Flavin or François Morellet who regularly used neon tubes, Philippe Fares uses halogen lamps. They have the advantage of becoming iridescent when energized and of diffusing a warm light.
There are two blue lamps on either side of a white bulb. The set is located in the lower part of the loop and normal to it. The lighting thus projects a lattice with blue segments and white rhombuses.
Remarkably, this phenomenon was anticipated by the artist using trigonometry applied to the cones of the light sources. The resulting color lattice repeats itself ad infinitum and irradiates the surrounding vertical and horizontal planes.
