Three triangular modules of glass and cement

This piece represents three parallel triangular glass modules, resting perpendicularly on a solid slate beam. The hardness and density of the materials used by Philippe Fares to create this sculpture are equivalent (tempered glass, cement, and solid slate). The result gives an impression of consistent solidity.
Inside each glass unit, the artist has placed three remote-controlled blue LEDs in the upper part of the glass that, when lit, give the work a cold and muffled tone. Inspired by the automotive industry, this work is composed of simple and pure forms.
The assembly stands out by the minimalist character and the glass’s ferrous green colors. Surrounded by the deep black of the tinted cement, the whole is underlined by the stone’s grey.

A non-functional design

By choosing to illuminate Effraction in blue, the plastic artist delivers a personal work that expresses his conception of a non-functional design. The light-emitting diodes that make up the room illuminate it intrinsically and add another dimension: the room’s virtual extension through their reflections on the walls and floor.
The optical imprint also generates visual phenomena. By leaving the object for another focus, our eye retains the remanence of the blue halo and changes the perception of our direct environment… Delimited by angular and imprecise contours, this sculpture of light becomes almost impalpable, immaterial.
Limits of the room where it radiates fade behind a light colored veil, disturbing our consciousness of reality. The work’s surface area is 50 cm / 30 cm – a reasonable size and smaller than a number of the artist’s works.
